Welcome! I am a PhD Candidate in Comparative Politics with a minor in American Politics in the Department of Government at Cornell University, and a Graduate Fellow with the Gender and Security Sector Lab.
My research interests include reproductive politics, social movements, civic engagement, and public opinion in Latin America and the United States. My dissertation project explores the relationship between abortion activism and policy implementation in Argentina, Colombia, and Costa Rica. I use in-depth interviews, focus groups, and a cross-national survey to explore the development of norms among healthcare professionals and the public, and to show how expanding access to abortion informally can be a precursor to legal reform. In addition to my dissertation research, I have an active research agenda that employs my comparative and survey research training to explore questions related to civic engagement, public opinion, and gender in the United States. I also collaborate on research into women's experiences in peace and security operations with the GSS Lab. My work has been published in Perspectives on Politics and International Studies Perspectives, and has been invited for revision and resubmission to Comparative Politics and Politics, Groups, and Identities. I have received generous research support from the American Political Science Association, the American Council of Learned Societies, the Center on Global Democracy, the Einaudi Center for International Studies, and the Roper Center for Public Opinion Research. I hold a B.A. with Honors in International Relations from William & Mary. |
